Academic Bio

Dr. Johns earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Deaconess College of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She then went on to receive her Master of Science in Nursing with a Healthcare Education focus from the University of Phoenix. Since beside patient care was important to Dr. Johns, she attended St. Louis University and earned a Post-Master’s Certificate as an Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Johns finds educating the next generation of nurse practitioners to be rewarding. It was due to Dr. Johns’ commitment to her profession and students that she continued her education at Maryville University and earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Maryville University.
Dr. Johns continues to practice as a hospitalist nurse practitioner in a community hospital. Prior to her hospitalist role, she was a palliative care nurse practitioner in a hospital setting. In addition to the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner certification, Dr. Johns is board-certified in two other specialties: pain management and hospice/palliative care nursing.
